As you probably know, Amazon Studio won two Golden Globes for its series Transparent in the categories of Best Television Series and Best Actor – Comedy or Musical. This hot win — a first for this studio — has the streaming service ramping up for yet another first.
Woody Allen has signed on to do his first-ever TV series.
The currently untitled Woody Allen project will be written and directed by the Oscar-winner. Amazon Prime has already ordered a full season of this half hour show. As for the premise, well the studio is keeping that info under wraps.
According to Deadline all they did say was …
“Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series,” said Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios. “From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.”
As more and more film giants move to work in TV it becomes very clear that creating content for TV is not only IN but the most exciting medium to write for today!
